Ford continues the development of the next-generation “T6” global Ford Ranger that’s expected to be sold in countries outside the U.S. and Canada starting in 2011. But before you can see that, here’s a snap shot of what’s under its hood.

The Ranger is expected to undergo major changes particularly its power plant which includes an all-new 3.2-liter and 2.2-liter Duratorq TDCi common-rail diesels, a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter Duratec gas engine, and a 2.0-liter EcoBoost mill. Each one would employ four cylinders as well as six-speed manual and automatic transmissions. Sadly, it won’t be sold in the U.S. and Canada. So truck enthusiasts on this side of the world would likely to make do with a new vehicle in the market.

Sneak Peek at Ford’s F-150 SVT Raptor SuperCrew

Sneak Peek at Ford’s F-150 SVT Raptor SuperCrew

ford-supercrew

Here’s a follow-up snapped picture of the 2011 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor SuperCrew.

Two notable changes are said to appear in the Raptor: one is that silver is its new color, and the other is that it’s sporting a 6.2-liter V-8 badge under its hood. The 2010 6.2-liter Raptors are indistinguishable from the 5.4-liter V-8 trucks on the outside. And if it can pull up to 6,000 pounds, this may be reduced by 500 pounds or more in the SuperCrew as it has extra weight.

Ford is almost about to start the production of its first six-cylinder EcoBoost-equipped 2011 F-150 half-ton pickup. But to satisfy the curiosity of many, take a sneak peak at the tester SuperCab FX4 model.

According to Ford, this EcoBoost twin-turbo system can run up to 1,740 degrees. It also has an air-to-air intercooler used to cool the compressed intake air before it enters the engine’s combustion chamber. Additionally, water cooling is used to protect the internal turbo bearings in the high-temperature operating environment. The use of two turbochargers also helps a lot in reducing turbo lag.

Ford has officially announced that the F-150’s EcoBoost engine will arrive by late 2010 boasting an improved fuel economy and low-end torque.

6.2-liter V-8 version of the F-150 SVT Raptor is now available

ford-f-150-raptor-62-liter-v-8

After the long, agonizing wait, the 6.2-liter V-8 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor is now on sale. Yeah! (applause please) Okay, so the first few words were a bit exaggerated but the fact that it’s here remains the same. The 6.2-liter V-8 rates at 411 horsepower and 434 pounds-feet of torque. This makes it the most powerful engine available for a half-ton pickup. It has two spark plugs per cylinder, aluminum cylinder heads, and a cast-iron engine block. Plus, it features a cast-iron crankshaft, cast-aluminum pistons, and forged steel connecting rods. So if you want to lay your hands on these, you might want to start placing an order now (3,000 other people already did). With the availability of this engine on the Raptor, you could expect that other Ford F-150 models would follow suit.

Ford Unleashed the Power and Pulling Specs of 2011 F-Series Super Duty

Ford Unleashed the Power and Pulling Specs of 2011 F-Series Super Duty

2011-ford-f-series-super-duty

Once you’ve seen the officially released power rating of Ford’s 2011 F-Series Super Duty, you’ll surely forget those agonizing months of waiting. And here are the complete numbers why:

385 hp (at 5,500 rpm) and 405 pounds-feet of torque (at 4,500 rpm) are the ratings for the all-new 2-valve SOHC 6.2-liter gasoline V-8. While for the 4-valveOHV 6.7-liter Power Stroke V-8 turbodiesel, it’s rated at 390 hp (at 2,800 rpm) and a tremendous (for lack of a more powerful word) 735 pounds-feet (at 1,600 rpm). All of these can be found inside of your F-250, F-350 and F-450 pickups. And for the F-450 and up chassis cabs, they’re rated at 330 hp and 660 pounds-feet. Putting all of these in simpler terms, the new 6.3 liter V8 has more horsepower than both the 5.4-liter gas V-8 and the optional 6.8-liter V-10 from the outgoing 2010 Super Duty. Can you imagine what you can do with the increase in horsepower and pulling capabilities? Man, tremendous is really an understatement.

A glimpse of Ford’s next-generation global Ford Ranger

A glimpse of Ford’s next-generation global Ford Ranger

ford-ranger

This picture is the disguised final form of the upcoming ranger. Code named T6 – this Ranger would be built on a single, globally shared platform that’s being designed in Australia. It’s expected to be sold exclusively on Southeast Asia, South America, Africa, Australia, and Europe. Obviously, it’s a right-hand drive, which means US and Canadian truck buyers might as well look at this picture a little longer. Until Ford decided to sell something just like this one on these other parts of the world, pictures are enough for the meantime.

Ford powers up F-Series Trucks

Ford powers up F-Series Trucks

ford-powers-up-f-series

Next year, the Ford F-Series pickup trucks are set to receive three all-new engines - a 3.5-liter twin turbo gasoline direct-injected EcoBoost V-6, a 6.7-liter turbodiesel Power Stroke V-8, and a 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V-8.

The new 6.2 liter single overhead cam V-8 is the first in line and it’s expected in the first quarter of this year. We’ll be watching out for this one for the simple reason that it’s the most powerful eight-cylinder engine available in the light-duty pickup. Power ratings of 411 horsepower and 434 pounds-feet of torque is undeniably something. But a lot of us wondered if the said engine would fit into other models besides the Ford Raptor. Well, like Barb Samardzich – Ford’s vice president of powertrain engineering said, it’s going to be a learning experience for both Ford and its truck buyers. Whether good or bad, we’ll have to see.

Truck of War: The GM’s vice chairman challenge

Truck of War: The GM’s vice chairman challenge

truck-of-war

Tom Stephens, the General Motor’s vice chairman in charge of global operations, challenged the cross-town rival Ford into a “Truck of War.” It’s between two trucks that have yet to hit the market: GM’s 2011 Chevrolet and GMC Heavy Duty pickups and Ford’s 2011 F-Series Super Duty. Stephens said that he’d like to chain the two trucks together back-to-back and pull against each other, to prove how strong GM’s Heavy Duty Pickups will be.

If this would happen (which is very unlikely), it would be the biggest publicity stunt for trucks in years. But we doubt it, no one is that confident to risk a multi-million dollar project just to prove a point.
