This vehicle is two-door GM heavy-duty pickup with an 8-foot-long cargo box and Duramax oil burner that’s an upgrade over the standard truck. The base engine is a 6.0-liter V-8 gas engine with 360 horsepower and 380 pounds-feet of torque.
This Duramax is the most powerful diesel engine in the segment, rated at 397 hp and 765 pounds-feet of torque. Now combine that with a regular cab Sierra HD’s hood and you’ll get a fuel-efficient hot rod.
“We call the truck ‘the rocket,’” Deep said. “When we were putting [the idea for it] together, we were trying to beat the best fuel economy and performance [numbers] in all of today’s full-size pickup trucks, both light- and heavy-duty.”
And you know what? They almost got both of these objectives. Deep said that in “real world” testing, only the GMC Sierra 1500 Two-Mode Hybrid beats it for highway mileage, and the GMC Sierra Denali 1500 with the high-performance 403-hp, 417 pounds-feet 6.2-liter V-8 gas engine is faster in the quarter-mile.

The one-ton 2011 GMC Sierra Denali 3500HD dually has made its debut. But for you to know how well it would perform, you’re going to have to wait until August 16. Meanwhile, suit yourself with its firsts few pictures.
What does the Denali option box gives you? Sierra Denali HDs has a unique four-bar chrome grille with body-colored bumpers, chrome door handles, chrome accents, and 18- or 20-inch polished forged aluminum wheels. While for its interior, you get Denali-specific brushed aluminum trim, power-adjustable pedals, a Bose premium surround audio system and 12-way power seats. Not only that, along with an optional heated steering wheel, heated and cooled leather-appointed seating is available. “Denali trim is available in the 3500 Series for both single-rear-wheel and dually versions in two-wheel and four-wheel drive. The 3500 series is also available in standard (6-foot 6-inches) and dually long box (8-foot) versions.”

If your memory is still in good shape, you might remember that there’s already a similar topic about this that’s posted here a few days ago. But this time, you’re in a treat as you can take the first look at the Toyota Tacoma with its new grille.
Back in San Antonio, Toyota is making the final preparations to begin the production of the 2011 Tacoma midsize pickup truck. And as earlier reported, it would sport a revised grille that phases out the previous two-bar style to a single bar. While some of its models would receive bare plastic grilles, others, like the sporty X-Runner, will have body-colored grilles. Production could start this Monday and the first vehicles could find their way to Toyota dealerships as early as end of this month.

Here’s another photo of the next-generation Ford Range under heavy camouflage. Even the wheels are covered.
Code named T6, the future Ranger is going to be built in a single, globally shared platform that’s designed in Australia. And when it’s done, it’s expected to appear in the market of Southeast Asia, Australia, Africa, Europe and South America. Sadly, there’s no plan to sell it in the United States when it ends production in 2011.

Indigen Armor has recently introduced the market with its Non-Standard Tactical Truck. And judging by its exterior design, it’s the sort of thing that Universal Soldiers would ride heading into the battlefield. And why not? The NSTT’s skin and windows alone are tough enough to withstand bullets fired from an AK-47 assault rifle. Aside from that, a broad range of additional equipment can also be included in the vehicle like run-flat tires, infrared lighting, signal jammers, sirens, a 2,000 watt inverter, winch, and onboard air compressor. But if these high-tech gadgets don’t impress you, the engine and its driving capabilities probably could.
It has a Navistar V-8 diesel engine that’s rated at 325 horsepower and 570 pounds-feet of torque coupled with a 6-speed Allison automatic transmission. Also, its eight cylinder oil burner will run on No. 2 diesel or military-grade JP-8 fuel. The NSTT also features independent front and rear suspension, which keeps the passengers and driver as comfortable as possible crossing the battlefield.
So if soldiers want to have great mobility in all kinds of terrain, the NSTT is the best ride they can get. Not to mention that it also adds extra intimidation with its appearance alone.

Here’s the take of renowned automotive illustrator Mark Stehrenberger on what these trucks would look like when they debut around 2013.
The future Silverado would likely to get its influence from the 2003 Chevrolet Cheyenne concept pickup. And along with past Chevy trucks that include the 1955 Cameo, 1972 C10 Cheyenne and 1988 C/K Silverado, the pure in form and purpose of the design of such vehicles would also be present in the 2013 Silverado. Additionally, there’s a buzz around the production that the Silverado’s skin might be affected by the Chevrolet Camaro. The retro styling with aggressive modern cues and the unique shape in that long-running sports car’s heritage would probably find its way to the future truck. Sources also tell us that the Silverado will look significantly more different from GMC Sierra than it does today. And when it comes to powertrain, improvements might be made with the possible inclusion of a (maybe 7.0-liter?) new large-displacement V-8 gas engine. Lastly, like their 2011 heavy-duty brothers, the next-generation Silverado would likely be riding in new frame. All of this information (except the engine of course) was converted into a graphic illustration above from Mark Stehrenberger. So we’ll just have to wait for a few more years to see if he’s dead-on.

Volkswagen is probably the first to realize that the world of pickup needs a little more single cabs. The two-door Amarok in these spy photos may hit the global market in 2011. It’s expected to have the same 2.0-liter common-rail turbo diesel four-cylinder with 163 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. These are produced at a VW plant in Pacheco, Argentina and are being distributed in South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Wow! Isn’t it a bummer that it won’t be sold in US again? Plus, the fact that the only two continents that these VW single-cabs won’t reach are North America and Antarctica adds to the frustration.

Ward’s Auto reported that Scion is still interested in building a compact pickup truck. They seem to believe that there’s a need for a truly compact truck now that midsize trucks have been bloated, overpriced and out of touch. Small trucks are “not off the table,” Scion General Manager Jack Hollis said in an interview at the 2010 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. “
So we just have to wait and see if they can make a small pickup truck that could live up to big expectations.

The new 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty Trucks will debut at the Chicago Auto Show this February.
The pickups have not been updated since 2006 and so they might tweak the exterior and interior features a bit. But two of the major improvements include the all-new chassis underneath and the new 6.6-liter Duramax V-8 diesel engine. Maybe for better aerodynamics and (there can be no better timing) fuel efficiency.
We still have to see it for ourselves though. But for now, we wait.

When Ram Truck’s CEO Fred Diaz said that their new 2010 Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty Trucks would turn the segment upside down, he couldn’t have stressed his point any clearer than hammering a 2500 HD upside down to the ceiling of the Chrysler display at the North American International Auto Show.
Talking about doing anything to make an impression. And you know what? We got the message. Loud and clear.
