GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz made a short statement which gives all of us a hunch of what the future holds for the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon.
“It’s uncertain at this point,” Lutz said. “They may well [go away].”
Last year, we’re already forewarned about this when Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal said that GM’s planning to end production at the Shreveport plant where the twin trucks are produced by 2012. And today, GM hasn’t officially announced anything about the Colorado and Canyon. While other companies, like Ford and Chrysler, already set the timeline in ending the production for their compact pickups - the Ranger and Dodge Dakota respectively. So it’s not only for GM’s small trucks we should bid our goodbyes to.
